I hate white walls. Seriously, I absolutely can't stand them. In my living spaces, I'm always painting or shrouding the colorless billboards with whatever I can find. In my current space, there is one wall spread with photos from inspirational places and each image reminds me of what was happening when the picture was taken each time I look at them. One friend of mine observed that I like to "see everything I love at all times" and this makes sense why I would cover an entire wall with travel photos. Guests and stragglers view the wall and evoke an impromptu opinion to share.
One modern philosopher stopped by, saw the above photograph and said, "I want a picture like this, but with color for my bedroom. Something with fireworks." While smirking to myself about this recent newly-wed wanting a picture of fireworks for their bedroom, I put jokes aside and moved onto questions about their desired composition and background.
Even though the above image is black and white, I thought it was funny that my friend picked out a picture that was taken at a wedding. For me, it is it's memory that brings color. I look forward to creating a colorful compliment that inspires other bright ideas, and eliminating another white wall.
